For nonprofits

Electronic signing a small nonprofit can afford to start with

A board resolution, a volunteer agreement, a memorandum with a partner organization. Most small nonprofits sign a handful of documents a month and would rather spend the budget on the program. eScryber Community gives verified nonprofits those signatures at no cost, and verified nonprofits pay about half the standard price on every paid plan. This page says what Community includes and how it compares with the other nonprofit offers you will see in the same search.

Competitor figures checked October 19, 2026, from each company's public pricing and nonprofit pages.

14-day trial · 5 envelopes · No credit card required

What Community includes

Community is $0 for verified nonprofits: 5 envelopes a month, 2 people who can send, 3 saved templates and 1 GB of storage. One envelope is one signing round and can include several signers. Recipients follow a link and sign without creating an account, and every completed document comes with its audit certificate.

Verification means your EIN with a Pub. 78 reference or your IRS determination letter, and a decision within 5 business days. Applying never starts a paid subscription, and any organization can use the standard plans without verifying.

When the monthly allowance is used, new sends wait for the reset or a plan change. There is no automatic overage charge.

Reading the table honestly

BoldSign's nonprofit Growth plan includes more envelopes for one person than Community does. If one staff member sends most of your documents and 50 a month is the right size, it is a strong offer.

Community is sized for a nonprofit whose signing is occasional and shared: 2 people who can send, a few signing rounds a month, at no cost for verified nonprofits. When that stops being enough, Mission is $150 a year for verified nonprofits with 10 senders and 150 envelopes a month, and nothing on the plan is priced per seat.

DocuSign's offer is a discount on seats, not a plan at no cost. Three staff on Standard pay $756 a year after the discount, for 300 envelopes; the discount is for new customers on annual plans, and DocuSign's FAQ lists exclusions, including schools, healthcare organizations and advocacy groups.

What three staff pay in a year

Community's 5 envelopes a month would not cover this team, so the eScryber column is Mission. BoldSign's figure uses Growth's annual rate halved by its nonprofit discount.

For three senders, BoldSign's discounted Growth plan costs less than Mission. At 6 senders the two cost the same, and beyond that Mission's included seats cost less, with no one deciding who deserves a seat. Public signing links and bulk send are on eScryber Impact ($390 a year for verified nonprofits), are add-ons to BoldSign's Business plan, and are on DocuSign's Business Pro.

Founding offer: the first 100 verified nonprofits get their first year of annual Mission for $99, then $150 a year. How to claim it

When another provider is the better choice

  • One person sends everything and 50 envelopes a month is the right size: BoldSign's nonprofit Growth plan gives that one user more signing rounds than Community.
  • You need to collect a payment, send by SMS or verify a signer's identity during signing: DocuSign and BoldSign offer those as paid features or add-ons.
  • You sign in several languages or outside the United States: eScryber serves organizations in the United States, and verification accepts US nonprofits.
  • You need a native mobile app: eScryber runs in the browser on phones and computers.
  • A funder's security review requires a SOC 2 report today: eScryber's SOC 2 report is on the way; until it arrives, eScryber publishes its security and data practices.

How to apply for Community

  1. Create your account and confirm your email. No credit card is asked for.
  2. Name your nonprofit workspace and submit verification. Your EIN with a Pub. 78 reference, or your IRS determination letter as a PDF.
  3. Receive a decision within 5 business days. For a new nonprofit workspace, approval activates Community. The separate 14-day trial includes five envelopes while you wait.

The forms nonprofits sign most

Volunteer waivers and releases, photo releases, permission slips, board conflict-of-interest statements and partnership memorandums. The volunteer forms page shows the two ways to collect them, and the waiver template is written in plain language with a note on what each section does. Read the volunteer waiver template.
